Eligible Hyundai Santa Fe Model Years
The following Hyundai Santa Fe model years may fall under engine settlement, recall, or warranty-extension pathways. Eligibility depends on your exact engine, VIN, KSDS/software update status, maintenance history, and dealership findings — not the model year alone.
No Mileage Limit
For qualifying vehicles, the Theta II settlement provides a lifetime warranty on the engine short block assembly with no mileage restrictions — but eligibility still depends on VIN, engine type, KSDS status, and manufacturer review.

Common Hyundai Santa Fe Engine Failure Symptoms
Document any of these symptoms with dates and photos before contacting the dealer.
Engine knocking or rod knock noise
Oil pressure warning light
Check engine light (P1326, P0011)
Engine stalling or sudden power loss
Excessive oil consumption
Engine vibration or rough idle
Burning oil smell from engine bay
Engine fire risk (in severe cases)
Why Hyundai Dealers Deny Santa Fe Warranty Claims
These are the most common denial tactics — and why each one can be challenged.
"KSDS software not updated" — Invalid per Hyundai's April 2022 policy. KSDS is not a prerequisite for bearing failure coverage.
"Insufficient oil change records" — Magnuson-Moss Act applies. Hyundai must prove the gap in records caused the failure.
"Vehicle used for towing or heavy loads" — Hyundai must prove the towing caused the specific bearing failure, not just that towing occurred.
"Aftermarket parts installed" — Must prove direct causation, not just presence of aftermarket parts.
"Failure outside warranty period" — The Theta II settlement provides LIFETIME coverage with no expiration.
