Why Kia Dealers Deny Optima Hybrid Warranty Claims
These are the most common denial tactics — and why each one can be challenged.
"Hybrid system not covered" — The engine defect is separate from the hybrid system. Theta II and Nu engine defects are covered regardless of hybrid configuration.
"No KSDS update" — KSDS is not a prerequisite for coverage per Kia's April 2022 policy.
"Outside warranty" — The Theta II settlement provides lifetime coverage on the short block with no mileage limit.
"Maintenance records required" — The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you from this denial.
